Chaos erupts near 42nd Street and Broadway
Around the same time the Morocco-Brazil match at New York-New Jersey Stadium was wrapping up, football fans in town for the World Cup witnessed burning vehicles and heard gunshots near 42nd Street and Broadway. Fans clashed with police, smashed windshields, and climbed atop light poles and other structures to celebrate. The New York Police Department reported several arrests but did not release specific numbers.
Celebrities join the celebration
Celebrities were spotted at the Knicks game, including Ben Stiller, Timothee Chalamet, Taylor Swift, and ASAP Rocky. Singer Jennifer Lopez celebrated from home, sharing a video of herself cheering. She recalled the Knicks' previous championship run and expressed gratitude for uniting the city and the world.

The Knicks' victory coincides with the World Cup, held at MetLife Stadium, renamed New York-New Jersey Stadium. Meanwhile, England players suffered a setback when football boots and other equipment were stolen days before their opener against Croatia. The Three Lions are based in Florida but moved to Kansas City on Friday.
Thomas Tuchel's team was scheduled to train on Saturday afternoon, but equipment was stolen from vehicles transferring items to Swope Soccer Village. Items belonging to stars like Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane may have been taken. Police made two arrests on Friday night.
