However, Nintendo revealed this premise is a deliberate misdirect. Five years into the game, the world is invaded by a demon god, and the four protagonists vanish. Players then assume control of a nameless, white-haired individual who is the 'story's true protagonist,' summoned to save the world.
This true protagonist gains time travel abilities, allowing players to recruit the other four leads. This mechanic suggests the Heroic Games portion might be shorter than expected, possibly serving as a prologue. Nintendo confirmed that the mysterious green-haired woman from earlier trailers is indeed an older Sothis, a key character from Three Houses, corroborating fan theories that Fortune's Weave is a distant sequel or set in the same world.
Gameplay and Comparisons to Three Houses
The Direct spent most of its time on gameplay details, which will be familiar to fans of Three Houses and Engage. A key difference is that Fortune's Weave allows players to switch between the four storylines in parallel, unlike Three Houses, which locked players into a single route. The time skip is a callback to Three Houses, but the ability to travel back to the first half is new.
