Anthony Gordon has completed his move from Newcastle United to Barcelona in a deal worth £69.3 million. The England winger signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the Camp Nou until June 30, 2031. Both clubs confirmed the transfer on Friday evening.
Dream Fulfilled
Speaking at his unveiling, Gordon said: 'I am very proud. It is a dream come true to be part of the history of this club.' The 25-year-old arrived at Barcelona's offices in a grey car, and the announcement was delayed until late evening. Gordon remained calm, stating: 'I knew it would happen. I was very calm in the hotel, waiting for it to happen.'
Burning Fire
Gordon described his motivation: 'There is a burning fire in my belly to win here. I bring my intensity, work rate, technical ability. I like to score goals, assist, and help the team win games.' He answered some questions in Spanish, impressing on his first day. 'As a kid I believed I would play for Barcelona, believe it or not,' he added.
Champions League Memories
Gordon recalled facing Barcelona with Newcastle in the Champions League, saying: 'At St James' Park we couldn't touch the ball. Frenkie de Jong and Pedri ruined our plans.' He expressed excitement about playing alongside Lamine Yamal and other stars.
Gordon posed with a shirt bearing '2031', the end of his contract, and concluded: 'Hopefully I can do it all in Spanish next time, thanks.'
