The January 2026 transfer window is heating up, with Everton emerging as a key player in the early moves. Manager David Moyes is reportedly keen to bolster his attacking options with a familiar type of striker: a towering centre-forward.
Moyes Targets Moroccan Marksman
Everton have tabled an initial loan offer for Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri, which includes an option to make the deal permanent for £20 million. The 6ft 2in Moroccan international, who recently celebrated reaching the Africa Cup of Nations final with his country, is now at the centre of a decision for his Turkish club. Moyes's admiration for physically imposing forwards is well-documented, making En-Nesyri a logical target.
In a potential double swoop, there is also speculation that Callum Wilson could be persuaded to leave West Ham United for a reunion with Moyes on Merseyside. This would further signal Everton's intent to add proven Premier League firepower to their squad.
Forest, Wolves, and Palace in the Mix
Everton are not without competition for En-Nesyri's signature. Nottingham Forest have also registered their interest, although their primary focus appears to be on Olympiakos veteran Mehdi Taremi. Forest's business could also see them send Oleksandr Zinchenko back to Arsenal after an underwhelming loan spell.
Elsewhere, the domino effect of the transfer market is in full swing. Atletico Madrid, flush with cash from the sale of Conor Gallagher to Tottenham, are plotting a move for Wolves' Brazilian maestro João Gomes. With Wolves battling relegation, a substantial offer for the midfielder could be tempting. Another Molineux exit could see Marshall Munetsi join Paris FC on loan.
Crystal Palace are looking to the future, with talks underway to sign 19-year-old Angers forward Sidiki Cherif. The versatile teenager has scored four goals in 17 Ligue 1 appearances, catching the eye of Eagles boss Oliver Glasner.
Deals Developing Across the Leagues
The rumour mill is busy across all levels of the game. Tottenham are close to finalising a deal for 19-year-old Santos left-back Souza, who is scheduled for a medical. Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil, frustrated by a lack of playing time in the top flight, is seeking a fresh start at FC Köln in the Bundesliga.
Middlesbrough aim to sign Jeremy Sarmiento from Brighton, despite the Ecuadorian's unremarkable loan spell at Cremonese. Chelsea's David Datro Fofana, currently on loan in Turkey, is wanted by Derby County, with Celtic and Royal Antwerp also monitoring the situation.
Finally, former Derby County midfielder Tom Lawrence could be set for a return to England. His impressive form for Perth Glory in Australia has attracted attention from Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, and Charlton Athletic, with his contract situation making a move feasible.
