Eric Pollard, played by Chris Chittell, is set to receive an unexpected surprise in upcoming episodes of Emmerdale. The beloved character, who shocked everyone last year by secretly marrying Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton), may have found a new protégé in the form of a young resident with a knack for making money.
Eric's Marriage of Convenience
Eric's decision to marry Kerry was driven by financial convenience and tax purposes, not romance. Due to the progression of his Parkinson's disease, he moved his assets to protect his grandson Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) from care home fees after his death. Despite the lack of romantic love, Eric felt a pang of jealousy when he discovered Kerry was seeing Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson). He meddled in typical Eric Pollard fashion, but his plans backfired.
When Kerry realized Eric knew about her secret fling, she ended things with Jai, stating she didn't want Eric to be alone. However, this made Kerry unhappy, so Eric gave her his blessing to continue seeing Jai. What started as an office fling has now turned into something genuine for the two residents.
Archie's Conning Scheme
In upcoming episodes, with Jai away, his son Archie is being looked after by Kerry and Eric. The youngster decides to pass the time by conning a very surprised Kerry and Eric. They present a united front as they get their money back and tell Archie that his punishment is to start working in the shop.
In an unexpected twist, Eric discovers Archie is quite savvy with money-making schemes. The right thing for Eric to do would be to not introduce Archie to the conman tricks he has picked up over the years, but if he spies a chance to earn more money, he is going to take it.
What's Next for Eric and Kerry?
Is Eric about to cause more trouble for Kerry and Jai? Viewers will have to tune in to find out. With Eric's history of scheming and Archie's newfound talent, the dynamics in the village are sure to shift.
