Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and Gary Windass (Mikey North) are clearly hiding something on Coronation Street, but the exact nature of their secret remains elusive. Their whispered conversations and sudden closeness have raised eyebrows, especially since the night of Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) murder. Both are part of Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) support circle, yet their behaviour has been increasingly strange.
Kit Green remains oblivious
Sarah’s boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has no suspicions about any extracurricular activities between Sarah and Gary. However, he has Gary in his sights regarding Theo’s killing and is eager to prove the builder responsible. Meanwhile, Gary’s girlfriend Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) is convinced that Sarah and Gary are having an affair. Despite reassurances from Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) and Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine), Maria remains steadfast in her belief.
Maria voices her suspicions
In a recent trip to the Rovers, Maria downed several glasses of wine and told Todd her theory, leaving him deeply questioning his best friend. Determined to get answers, Todd watched as the whispers and secret conversations between Sarah and Gary continued. The net is closing in as more people become suspicious of their sudden closeness.
Kit, however, is preparing to propose. He seeks the blessing of their children, starting with Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), who teases him before enthusiastically encouraging him. They head to the pub to look for engagement rings, but Todd confronts Sarah over Maria’s theories. Before he can press her, Sarah collapses into body-wracking sobs, forcing Todd to abandon his interrogation and comfort her instead.
Sarah's dangerous admission
Sarah tells Todd that while she has done stupid and dangerous things in the past, her current situation makes everything pale in comparison. She is in big trouble. Todd assumes she is talking about Gary and encourages her to follow her heart but insists she must be honest with Kit and Maria.
Back at Kit’s, he bonds with Harry (Joshua Leavy), helping him learn lines for the upcoming ‘Wizard of Oz’ production. Harry tenderly asks if Kit is staying, and the copper confirms his intention to always be around. He also secures the blessing of his own son, Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey). Sarah, however, seeks out Gary again, confirming that Todd knows ‘something’. Gary implores her to shut down his suspicions quickly, clearly rattled by their loss of control.
Gary attempts to mend things with Maria
Gary stops by the flower shop and collects a bouquet for Maria, hoping to fix things. She suggests they need to talk, but they are interrupted by Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall). Gary proposes a family night at Speed Daal, but Maria can barely form a sentence before heading to her bedroom, her heart aching with paranoia.
All signs point to a dinner party from Hell, where the truth about Gary and Sarah will finally be revealed. For now, the secret remains buried, but the pressure is mounting.
