The Dusty Knuckle, the Dalston bakery renowned for its sourdough sandwiches and social mission, is set to open a third location in Finsbury Park this November. Hackney Council approved plans on Friday, September 25, to change the frontage of 81 Blackstock Road, the former site of family-run Italian restaurant Il Cavaliere.
A Third Location After Dalston and Green Lanes
The bakery first opened its flagship site in Dalston in 2014, on the site of an old car park. It expanded to Green Lanes in 2021 and launched a van café in Highbury Fields in 2024. The new Finsbury Park branch will bring its famed sourdough sandwiches and a full range of baked goods to the bustling Blackstock Road.
The Dusty Knuckle teased the news on Instagram, announcing a 'big new thing' set to launch in November. The company is currently hiring front-of-house staff, a barista, and an assistant general manager for the new site.
Community Support and No Objections
Neighbours of the new location were consulted on the changes throughout the summer and did not lodge any objections. The approved plans include installing a new awning on the shopfront, suggesting there will be outdoor seating once the bakery opens.
Social Mission: Training Prison Leavers
Throughout its expansion, The Dusty Knuckle has partnered with charities to provide support for ex-offenders. The chain offers more than 20 traineeships to prison leavers every year, a core part of its mission to provide meaningful employment opportunities.
The new Finsbury Park bakery is expected to open its doors in November, adding to the chain's growing presence across London.
