Coronation Street has confirmed a dark new motive in the ongoing murder storyline, as a fresh suspect comes to the fore. Theo Silverton's death continues to dominate conversations on the cobbles, with residents speculating about who could be responsible.
Danielle's Suspicious Behavior
In Tuesday's episode (May 26), Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson) was seen shopping for flowers for Theo's funeral and balked at the prices charged by Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford). After Danielle left, Tracy pointed out that she was making a fuss over nothing, considering the settlement she was likely to receive following Theo's murder. George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) then tactlessly suggested that money sounded like a strong motive for murder.
Gary Windass (Mikey North) was unimpressed by George's insinuation and warned him to stop pointing fingers at their neighbors, especially given what happened to Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby). Viewers know that Summer is currently in prison awaiting trial for Theo's murder, a crime she did not commit. She was arrested after George told police she had lied about the last time she saw Theo, adding to the evidence against her.
Danielle Accuses Todd
Later this week, Danielle joins in the finger-pointing when she accuses Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) of killing Theo for his life insurance. However, when Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) shares his suspicions with Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers), Danielle herself becomes the one brought in for questioning. Could Tracy's teasing actually prove true? Is Danielle the real killer?
With Summer behind bars, the true murderer remains at large, and Danielle's potential motive and suspicious actions make her a prime suspect. Fans will have to watch to see if the truth comes out.
