Poor Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is left terrified beyond measure when she finds a body in upcoming Coronation Street scenes. A flash-forward episode from earlier this year revealed the teen's horror after stumbling across one of her deceased neighbours at the end of a night out, following Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain's (Alison King and Vicky Myers) wedding reception. It's safe to say it put a dampener on what was supposed to be the happiest day of Lisa and Carla's lives.
Wedding Day Drama
The wedding almost didn't happen, with Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) having flooded the room they'd booked at the Chariot Square. But after a pep talk from Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and some secret planning with Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor), Lisa managed to save the day at the last minute. They even managed to throw together a last-minute reception at Underworld, where the joyous atmosphere continued. Unfortunately, what they believed was a fox screaming in the street was actually Betsy.
Flash-Forward and Aftermath
In tense scenes during the flash-forward, Betsy tearfully told police how she had found the body, before viewers learned that there were five characters whose lives were at risk. This week, we find out who is set to meet their maker, before the aftermath continues with major consequences. Betsy is understandably traumatised by her ordeal, which prompts Carla and Lisa to make a big decision. As they try their best to comfort her, they reveal they've postponed their honeymoon to look after her. How will Betsy react?
'It's a trial for them at the start of married life as Betsy is the one who found the body, so they have got something difficult to deal with from day one of married life,' actress Vicky Myers explained. 'As a family, after what they have been through, I think they feel very equipped now to be able to deal with things as a team.'
Lisa's Investigation
It isn't just Betsy Lisa has to worry about, as she is assigned to the murder case with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). Lisa's initial questioning of suspects leads to a public arrest, before a startling piece of evidence leaves her and Kit convinced they're close to a breakthrough. Will Lisa be able to manage catching the killer while supporting her traumatised daughter?
