Coronation Street has confirmed a devastating ordeal for little Bertie Osbourne, and Jodie Ramsey is to blame. Jodie's antics have led to trouble for another innocent resident, and this time it is Bertie who has been caught in the crossfire between Jodie and Daniel Osbourne amid her plot to keep a roof over her head.
Viewers will recall that Jodie planned to secretly stay in Daniel's flat while he was away, only to discover that he had actually lied about his holiday and was hiding out at home. After some back and forth, Daniel eventually agreed to let Jodie stay, and the pair got on like a house on fire. However, when Jodie told Daniel that Bertie was struggling without him, her plan backfired, as he asked her to move out when Bertie returned.
In a bid to keep a roof over her head, Jodie started leaving anonymous hate posts on social media, targeting Daniel. They were mostly linked to Daniel's ex-girlfriend Megan Walsh and speculated that he knew that she had been grooming and abusing Will Driscoll. At first, Daniel thought Megan was behind the posts, given that she had just been released on bail, but when the posts started to get more personal, he decided it had to be someone closer to home. This led to him lashing out at David Platt, believing him to be behind the account, before eventually apologising after realising that he had been wrong.
The stress of these posts has really got to Daniel, and he was grateful when Jodie suggested she pause moving out so she could help him look after Bertie. In tonight's episode, Daniel was horrified to learn that Bertie had been picked on at school because of the online posts about him. When Daniel told Jodie about this, she seemed to feel genuine remorse – but will this put an end to her anonymous posting?
Daniel is still unaware that Jodie is the one behind the posts, despite a near miss in tonight's episode which saw Daniel catch her trying to hide her phone. She managed to cover by showing him a video of some teenagers throwing a milkshake at Megan and telling him she was afraid of how he would react. Will Daniel ever find out the truth about Jodie? He has already promised Ken Barlow that he plans to give the culprit a piece of his mind, so could Jodie be about to meet her match?
