Cassie Plummer, played by Claire Sweeney, faces an explosive exit storyline on Coronation Street next week as Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) continues to cause problems. Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) urges Cassie to stand up to Ross after noticing her unease around him. Cassie eventually admits she is being blackmailed, prompting Bernie to encourage her to deal with the situation head-on.
Ross's Growing Influence
Ross focuses on getting to know his son Tyrone Dobbs, and their relationship appears to be moving in the right direction. However, Tyrone begins to realise something odd is going on involving Cassie and Steve McDonald. When he uncovers the truth, he is left shocked.
Things become even more awkward for Cassie when she discovers Ross has spent the night with Tracy Barlow at No.1. Concerned that Tracy doesn't know what Ross is really like, Cassie tries to warn her, but Tracy isn't interested in listening. Later, after seeing Tracy and Ross kissing in the street, Cassie spots Ross heading into the Bistro carrying flowers. Assuming he is playing Tracy, she tells her what she has witnessed, instantly putting Tracy's good mood on hold.
Ross's Confrontation
Ross is left confused when Tracy suddenly gives him the cold shoulder. While explaining who the flowers are really for, he also tells Tracy that he would rather slow things down between them so he can concentrate on building a relationship with Tyrone. It doesn't take Ross long to work out that Cassie has been interfering.
In a new video, Ross calls at No.9 and warns Cassie to stay out of his life, leaving her with another difficult situation to deal with. Tyrone then arrives and tells Cassie to leave. Reeling in shock, Cassie is gutted when Tyrone claims that she is very good at interfering in his efforts to get to know his dad.
Previous Troubles
The latest developments come after a difficult week for Cassie. Hoping to prove how serious she was about Steve, she surprised him by getting down on one knee and proposing in the cab office. Things didn't go as she had hoped, and after feeling hurt she headed to the Chariot Square Hotel, where she drank vodka and flirted with another man while Steve searched for her.
Although Steve later suggested they put the last few days behind them, Cassie kept quiet about what had happened. At the same time, Tyrone has been dealing with life-changing news after Hope and Ruby revealed they had sent off his DNA and tracked down his biological father, Ross. Despite Cassie's concerns, Tyrone has agreed to get to know him, leaving her increasingly worried as Ross becomes more involved in the family's lives.
What's Next
With Bernie urging Cassie to stop letting Ross control the situation and Steve still unaware of the full truth, next week looks set to be another challenging one for Cassie as she decides what her next move is and how much longer she will be sticking around the Cobbles.
