Cain explodes at Graham then turns on Kyle in Emmerdale

Cain Dingle has erupted at Graham Foster, igniting a war at Home Farm, before turning his anger on his son Kyle in the latest Emmerdale drama. The conflict began when Cain learned that Kyle had been confiding in Graham instead of him, a discovery that shook the Big Dog to his core.

Cain blindsided by son's secret confidante

Cain thought he and Kyle were tight-knit, but the truth is that Kyle has felt disconnected from his distracted dad. The lad has endured a huge few years, having shot Al, lost his mum, seen Moira imprisoned, and now his dad has cancer which he refuses to treat. To cope, Kyle started burning things, including barns on Emmerdale Farm. Graham discovered this and became Kyle's confidante.

Now Kyle has something new on his mind: he wants answers for his mum's death. He confronts Kim Tate and Joe Tate, demanding they confess. Joe was responsible for Amy's death – Charity ran the limo off the road because a drugged Noah walked out in front of her, who had been drugged by Joe while planning to steal his kidney. Amy then plunged into an icy lake and died later of cardiac arrest.

Graham caught in the middle

As Kyle demands answers from the bewildered Tates, Graham arrives and tries to do damage control. Kyle leaves, but at home Cain and Moira are concerned to see him so agitated and shaken. Cain believes it is down to Graham and marches to Home Farm spoiling for a fight. He thinks Graham has done enough harm to Kyle. Cain seethes that Graham and the Tates must stay away from Kyle, vowing Dingle backlash if they don't.

This presents a problem for Graham, who is immediately set on by Joe when Cain leaves, demanding to know which side he is on. It's a tough question for morally conflicted Graham to answer.

Cain's anger spirals

Cain is all over the shop and the next day fails to control his anger around Kyle. As Cain rages, something catches his eye and he dashes outside – Kyle has set a shed on fire. But worse, Monty the dog is trapped inside. Cain springs into action and breaks down the shed door, fighting back flames as he tries to save the family pet.

Everyone is stunned as Cain takes the barbecued pooch to the vets, leaving Kyle feeling rotten. It's bad news from Paddy: the Dingles must prepare for the worst, and Cain's rage once again rises. He's unable to control his temper around Kyle.

Monty's cancer diagnosis

But what Paddy later reveals is that Monty has cancer; his limited time is not due to the fire. Cain's instant instinct is to try to save the much-loved mongrel, which gives him pause for thought – as he's chosen to ride out his own cancer rather than get treatment, how much of a hypocrite is he being?
