KSI Appoints Ex-West Ham Striker Andy Carroll as Dagenham & Redbridge Interim Manager
Andy Carroll Named Interim Boss at Dagenham & Redbridge by KSI

KSI Hands Andy Carroll First Managerial Role at Dagenham & Redbridge

In a surprising move that has captured the attention of the football world, former West Ham and Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has been appointed as the interim manager of Dagenham & Redbridge. This appointment comes under the ownership of prominent YouTuber KSI, marking a significant shift in the club's leadership.

Carroll's Transition from Player to Manager

Andy Carroll, who joined Dagenham & Redbridge as a player in July 2025 on a three-year contract, had previously been confirmed as a shareholder in February, prior to KSI's investment announcement. His elevation to the managerial role follows the dismissal of Lee Bradbury on Wednesday, despite a recent 3-2 victory over Farnborough. Bradbury, appointed just last summer, has been replaced by Carroll on an interim basis, signaling a new direction for the club.

Carroll expressed his enthusiasm for the role earlier, stating, "I'm really excited to get started with Dagenham. My kids thought I was signing for Chelsea—they'll be in for a shock." He emphasized the personal and professional appeal of the move, noting its proximity to his family and his desire to contribute to the club's leadership. "I want to help as many players and staff from my experience and background as possible," he added, highlighting his commitment to the project over more lucrative offers from clubs in France, Italy, and Spain.

Challenging Debut Against Neil Warnock

Carroll's first match in charge will be a high-stakes encounter against Torquay United this weekend, where he will face off against veteran manager Neil Warnock, who is also serving on an interim basis. This clash pits Carroll's nascent managerial career against Warnock's extensive experience, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the fixture.

Despite scoring six goals in the National League South this season, Carroll has been sidelined with an injury since mid-December. The club released a statement expressing gratitude to Bradbury for his contributions, saying, "We are very grateful to Lee for his focus, professionalism, and commitment during his time at the Club and for his contributions, both on and off the pitch, to stabilise the club last summer."

Carroll's Illustrious Playing Career

Andy Carroll's football journey has been marked by notable highs and challenges. He made headlines in 2011 when he signed for Liverpool from Newcastle United in a British record transfer worth £25 million. His move to West Ham followed, initially on loan in 2012 before becoming permanent for £15 million a year later. However, injuries plagued much of his time at West Ham, with his most successful Premier League campaign coming in the 2015/16 season, where he scored nine goals, including a memorable hat-trick in a 3-3 draw against Arsenal.

Carroll later returned to Newcastle United in 2019 for a two-season stint and had a brief spell at West Brom in 2022, scoring three goals in 15 Championship appearances. He then netted 11 goals in 42 appearances for Reading before moving to France, showcasing his resilience and talent across various leagues.

This managerial appointment represents a new chapter for Carroll, blending his on-field experience with leadership ambitions under KSI's innovative ownership. As Dagenham & Redbridge navigate this transition, all eyes will be on Carroll's debut against Neil Warnock, a test that could define his early managerial career.
