The devastated family of a 14-year-old boy who died after being struck by a train have described him as having 'so much love to give' in an emotional tribute.

Joshua Travis, 14, was hit by a train in Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire, just after 7pm on Wednesday evening, according to the British Transport Police.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the talented young footballer was pronounced dead at the location.

Joshua was remembered as a promising goalkeeper who had previously been part of Nottingham Forest Academy. The club expressed their deep sadness at the tragic news in a social media statement.

"Everyone at Nottingham Forest is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our former academy goalkeeper Josh Travis," the club wrote. "Our thoughts are with Josh's family and friends at this extremely difficult time."

Aspire Football Coaching, where Joshua played as an under-15s goalkeeper, postponed all games following the devastating news. The coaching school described him as "a fantastic goalkeeper and a great character in the group" who made a real impact both as a footballer and as a person.

Family's Loving Tribute to Their 'Mischievous' Son

In a moving statement released on Saturday, Joshua's heartbroken family painted a picture of a vibrant young man full of life and character.

"Josh was a lad with an incredibly energy for life, an infectious and mischievous smile, kind sparkling eyes, and so much love to give," they said.

The family added the poignant words: "He leaves a gap in our lives that is and will always be impossible to fill, and we will miss him forever."

British Transport Police confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious, and Sky News has contacted the Rail Accident Investigation Branch for further comment about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy in Nottinghamshire.
