London is renowned for its exceptional brunch scene, and Time Out has just unveiled its updated list of the city's best cafés. Topping the ranking is Oula, a charming pink café nestled in Fitzrovia inside Ibraaz, a six-storey cultural centre dedicated to Middle Eastern and North African art, music, film, and cuisine.
About Oula
Oula is the brainchild of French-Tunisian chef Boutheia Ben Salem, who describes the café as a 'living archive of women's rituals and memory,' honouring matriarchal culinary traditions. The interior is bathed in pink hues, creating a womblike yet inviting and intimate atmosphere. Despite opening in October last year, Oula already feels like a long-established favourite, with warm and unhurried service.
Menu Highlights
Oula's menu goes far beyond the typical avocado toast. The standout dish is the half-moon filo pastry, fried to perfection and finished with a generous squeeze of lemon juice, which Time Out calls 'our new favourite brunch.' Other offerings include kastrout (Tunisian-style stuffed baguettes using bread from Quince Bakery) and drô gourmand, a sorghum porridge topped with pumpkin seeds, coconut chips, and pomegranate.
Runners-Up
The updated list also features notable runners-up, including Rons, an all-vegan café in Peckham, and Pavilion Café in Victoria Park, which offers a scenic setting with a Sri Lankan-inspired menu.
Location and Information
Oula is located at 93 Mortimer Street, Fitzrovia, London W1W 7SS. For the full five-star review and the complete list of London's best cafés, visit Time Out's website.
