The plan, submitted by the high-end pet wellness center Fido's of Fitzrovia on Great Portland Street, seeks permission from Westminster Council to board a limited number of dogs overnight in its ground and basement floors.
Luxury Amenities for Pampered Pets
Fido's of Fitzrovia is already known for offering premium services such as acupuncture, microbubble therapy, and 'pawdicures' for its canine clientele. The proposed boarding facility would feature six temperature-controlled sleeping pods, designed to provide a lavish overnight stay fit for even the most discerning pets. Owner Anneleen Akle emphasizes that the operation will be low-impact and carefully managed, with detailed acoustic assessments conducted to address noise concerns.
Resident Opposition and Noise Complaints
Despite the appeal to pet owners, some residents have voiced strong objections to the plan. Concerns center around potential noise disruption, with one resident describing the proposal as 'wholly incompatible with the surrounding residential use.' Another objector warned of 'torturous and unbearable noise' that could affect their homes, arguing that residents are entitled to quiet enjoyment of their properties.

Anneleen Akle has dismissed the complaints as 'scaremongering' and 'outrageous lies,' stating that local resistance is limited. She asserts that her team has met all council requirements and is confident the planning application will be judged on evidence, leading to a positive outcome.
