Kim's return derails Dawn's escape plan in Emmerdale

The clock is ticking for Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) in Emmerdale, and that clock is set to tick even faster next week as Kim Tate (Claire King) makes her return. Dawn had decided to leave Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) after Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) revealed that her soon-to-be husband was responsible for putting him in hospital. Dawn and Billy devised a plan to escape to Spain, hoping to slip away while Joe was away on his stag do.

However, the week took a stressful turn when Dawn and Billy discovered that Joe had not gone to Prague as planned. Instead, they were led into a field by Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), where Joe unveiled a surprise joint stag and hen do. After a clay pigeon shooting event, Joe invited everyone to The Hide for food and drink, where Billy made a massive discovery.

Kev's confession changes everything

Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) had caught wind of the event and wandered up for free food and drink. As he drank, Kev blurted out to Billy that he was the one who attacked him – not Joe. This revelation left Billy at a crossroads. If he told Dawn the truth, he would lose her, as there would be no reason for her to leave Joe. If he kept the secret, he could leave with Dawn and live happily ever after, but he would have to hide the truth forever.

Next week, the day of Dawn and Joe's wedding finally arrives. As morning breaks, Graham hides his worry behind a smile, promising Joe that absolutely nothing will go wrong today. Downstairs, Dawn is a bag of nerves as she realises Kim is back. She knows escaping will be impossible with Kim's beady eyes about, but Billy manages to calm her down. Dawn thanks Billy for being so trustworthy, which only increases his guilt tenfold.

Graham uncovers the plan

Despite Kim's kindness deepening Dawn's guilt, she forces herself to use her dad's memory to get Kim out of the way so she can leave. By this point, Graham is absolutely certain that Dawn is hiding something. His careful questioning causes young Lucas to slip up, as he accidentally reveals his mum and dad's plan.

Racing over to Home Farm, Graham catches Dawn outside the stables making a call to Billy. He cannot believe that Dawn is about to break Joe's heart, but she reveals that she has every reason to make a run for it as Joe put Billy in hospital. Graham then says something that stops Dawn in her tracks: How did Billy know that Joe attacked him, if the hit happened from behind?

The question hangs heavy for Dawn, but she does not allow herself time to think about it too much. Failing to talk her out of leaving, Graham grabs Dawn's car keys. But Dawn is desperate as well. Grabbing a shovel, she smacks Graham to the ground. Time is running out.

What's next for Dawn?

With Dawn Taylor's exit looming, is she really going to run off into the sunset with Billy? Or is tragedy waiting? The wedding day is set to become the scene of carnage, with Kim's return and Graham's interference adding to the chaos. Fans will have to tune in to see if Dawn's escape plan succeeds or if the truth about Billy's attack will come to light.
