A 15-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed in broad daylight on a busy street lined with businesses and homes in Ilford. The shocking knife attack occurred on Ilford Lane shortly before 4:55 PM on Saturday, June 13.
Arrest Made
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody as of Monday, June 15. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Road Closure and Investigation
Ilford Lane was closed in both directions between A118 Winston Way and Grange Road for over 24 hours following the attack, reopening around 1 PM on Monday. The closure allowed police to gather evidence after paramedics rushed the victim to a major trauma centre.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Around 4:55 PM on Saturday, June 13, officers attended Ilford Lane, Ilford, following reports of a stabbing. Police attended with the London Ambulance Service. A 15-year-old boy was treated at the scene for stab injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in life-threatening condition. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken into police custody, where he remains. Anybody who witnessed the incident is urged to call 101, quoting reference 5194/13JUN.”
Emergency Response
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called on Saturday, June 13, at 4:51 PM to reports of a stabbing in Ilford Lane, Ilford. We sent resources including ambulance crews, advanced paramedic practitioners, an incident response officer and London’s air ambulance. We treated a teenager at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre.”
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
