Trump added: 'We'll be hitting them hard. They're going to get a beating.' The remarks come amid heightened tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, where disputes have continued for several months and talks have stalled. Multiple cargo ships have been attacked by Iran in the vital waterway.

The US Central Command claimed all five Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted during the 'surprise attack' on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, which serves as US Central Command in Jordan. According to the official X page, 'U.S. forces remain vigilant and at a high state of readiness,' confirming the attack at 5.45pm ET. There were no reported casualties or damage.
Background of Escalating Tensions
Earlier this month, Trump told Iran to 'behave' and warned that more US strikes would cripple the country, targeting bridges and power plants unless they back down. This follows Iran reportedly encouraging supporters of the Islamic regime to assassinate the President's wife and son, in a video titled 'How to Kill Melania Trump'.
Despite the recent attack, Trump said peace talks will continue and the US are 'going to let them keep talking'. The situation remains volatile as both sides maintain military readiness.
