Trump's Declaration on Executive Orders

Former US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to cancel all executive orders signed by his predecessor, Joe Biden, which he alleges were authorised using an autopen device.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday 28 November 2025, Trump claimed that approximately 92% of Biden's executive orders were signed with the machine, stating he would render them "terminated, and of no further force or effect."

The Autopen Controversy Explained

An autopen is a device that mechanically reproduces a person's signature, allowing for the efficient signing of multiple documents. While Trump has also used an autopen during his tenure, he contended he only deployed it for "very unimportant papers."

Trump escalated his claims by alleging that Joe Biden was "not involved" in the signing process. He further accused "the radical left lunatics circling Biden" of effectively taking the presidency away from him, though he provided no evidence to support these assertions.

He stated, "The Autopen is not allowed to be used if approval is not specifically given by the President of the United States," and threatened that if Biden claimed involvement, he would "be brought up on charges of perjury."

Denials and Political Repercussions

This is not the first time Trump has questioned Biden's mental capacity and decision-making. He has repeatedly suggested that Biden's staff made decisions on his behalf towards the end of his term.

However, these claims have been firmly denied by Biden and his former aides. In June 2025, Biden explicitly stated, "Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency. I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations. Any suggestion that I didn't is ridiculous and false."

The political theatre extended beyond verbal sparring. Earlier in the year, Trump replaced a portrait of Biden in the Oval Office with a picture of an autopen signing his own name, a move widely interpreted as a public taunt.

This latest declaration adds another layer to the ongoing political rivalry between the two figures, setting a contentious tone for the political landscape.
