Trump Eulogizes Lindsey Graham as 'True American Original'

Donald Trump delivered a eulogy for the late Senator Lindsey Graham at Washington National Cathedral on Tuesday, describing him as a 'true American original' and 'strong and steadfast.' The funeral service was attended by members of Congress, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump's Eulogy Highlights Graham's Legacy

Speaking at the podium, Trump recalled his initial rivalry with Graham during the 2016 presidential election, when Graham called him a 'jackass' and Trump leaked his phone number. 'It was Lindsey who had the last laugh because while I blew up his phone all for one day, we became great friends, and Lindsey did not stop calling me for the next 10 years,' Trump said.

Trump noted Graham's hawkish stance, stating, 'He never saw a war that he didn't like. Only his true friends would understand that. But he wanted it for the good of our country.' Graham supported US involvement in Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and the recent war against Iran.

Fox News Host Sean Hannity Also Eulogizes

Fox News host Sean Hannity eulogized Graham, saying he was 'great for ratings because people listened to him.' Hannity acknowledged Netanyahu and Zelenskyy in attendance, noting Graham's admiration for Zelenskyy as 'a warrior poet or a warrior comedian.' He also praised Graham's support for Israel, calling him 'that friend to Israel in the United States senate as long as I've known this man.'

High-Profile Attendees and Security

The funeral at Washington National Cathedral drew numerous White House officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. Security was extensive, with Wisconsin Avenue closed and a heavy Secret Service presence. A few protesters gathered, with some waving Palestinian flags and criticizing Graham's support for Israel.

Graham's Sister Appointed to Senate Seat

Trump also praised Darline Graham, Lindsey's sister, who was appointed to his Senate seat after his death. 'Nothing could be more fitting than that woman who was Lindsey's proudest legacy, now continues his legacy of service in the US Senate,' Trump said.
