A murder investigation has been launched by Surrey Police following the fatal stabbing of a teenage boy in a woodland area of Guildford.
Police Discover Body in Stoke Park Woodland
Officers were called to an area of woodland off Lido Road in Stoke Park at approximately 6.10pm on Monday 19 January. The location is known locally as Peacock Wood and is adjacent to the Wild Wood Adventure play area.
Emergency services, including fire and ambulance crews, attended the scene. Despite their efforts, the boy, whose age has not been officially released, was pronounced dead at the location.
Major Crime Team Leads Investigation
The inquiry is now being led by the Surrey and Sussex Police Major Crime Team. A significant police cordon remains in place around Peacock Wood and at the end of the Lido Road car park as forensic examinations continue.
No arrests have been made at this early stage of the investigation. Detectives are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Appeal for Witnesses and Information
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Andy Jenkins, stated: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this desperately sad time."
He acknowledged the concern within the local community and sought to offer reassurance: "Our officers are working around the clock to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident, gather as much evidence as possible, and identify and bring those responsible to justice."
Police are urgently appealing for information from the public. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Lido Road, Parkway, and Stoke Park between 6pm and 6.20pm on Monday evening.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or seen individuals running from the woods around that time. Any piece of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be vital to the investigation.
