Murder Investigation Launched After Teenager Stabbed to Death
Members of the public are being urged to dial 999 immediately if they spot a teenager wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing in Handsworth. West Midlands Police have issued an urgent appeal to locate Oumar Traore, 17, who is wanted for questioning over the death of another young man.
Violent Attack Claims Young Life
The investigation was launched after Yassin Alama, 19, was found with stab wounds on Hutton Road in Handsworth at approximately 5.20pm on Sunday. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from West Midlands Police's homicide team have made several unsuccessful attempts to locate and arrest Traore. The force has now taken the unusual step of appealing directly to the public for assistance in tracking down the wanted teenager.
Police Issue Direct Warning to Public
Jenny Birch, representing West Midlands Police's homicide team, provided a stark warning to anyone who might encounter the suspect. "If anyone sees him, or has information about where he might be, they should not approach him but call us straight away on 999," she stated.
Birch described the incident as "a violent attack in the street" that has left Yassin's family "absolutely devastated." She emphasised that officers are providing support to the grieving family while working tirelessly to secure answers about the tragic events.
In response to the ongoing manhunt, police have implemented additional stop and search powers across the local area. These enhanced measures are designed to help corner the suspect and prevent further violence.
The community remains on high alert as the search for Traore continues, with authorities stressing the importance of public vigilance in bringing the suspect into custody safely.
