Tributes Pour In For 'Loving' Newham Man
The family of a 56-year-old man killed on an East London street have paid a heartbreaking tribute to their 'loving' relative, Franklin Francis. Mr Francis was found unresponsive by police officers in Palmerston Road, Forest Gate, following reports of a fight.
Timeline of a Tragedy
The incident occurred at 3.50pm on Tuesday, November 25. After being discovered, the victim was rushed to hospital for treatment. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away two days later, on Thursday, November 27.
In a statement released through the Metropolitan Police, Mr Francis's grieving family said: "Franklin was a loving member of the family whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew him. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled. We will miss him dearly every single day."
Police Investigation and Community Reassurance
As part of their investigation, police have made two arrests. Two men, aged 56 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Both individuals have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Superintendent Sarah Jackson, who leads policing in the area, expressed her sadness. "We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts are with Franklin’s family and friends," she said. "We are doing everything we can to find out who is responsible and have made two arrests as part of our investigation."
She also thanked members of the public who assisted the victim before the arrival of emergency services. In a direct message to the local community, Superintendent Jackson sought to allay fears, stating: "We understand this incident will cause concern within the local community and want to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident."
