A murder investigation has been launched after a 50-year-old man died from serious head injuries sustained in an assault in Islington. Ahmed Jama, from Camden, was found with serious head injuries on Hungerford Road at around 4am on Friday, July 10, following reports of an assault. He was taken to hospital but died five days later on Wednesday, July 15.
Two women arrested and bailed
On Sunday, July 12, two women, aged 18 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident. They have since been bailed pending further enquiries by police.
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the area, said: "Our thoughts are first and foremost with Ahmed's family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time. As enquiries continue, local residents can expect to see a continued police presence in the area over the coming days. I would ask anyone with any information, CCTV or doorbell camera footage which could support the investigation to contact us."

Police are urging anyone with information or footage that may assist the investigation to contact them on 101, quoting CAD 1063/10Jul. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
