Elderly Victim in Critical Condition Following Daylight Attack
An elderly man remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering severe head injuries during an alleged street robbery in Enfield. The incident occurred outside Ponders End Post Office on High Street at approximately 11am on Thursday, October 30.
Suspect Charged and Remanded in Custody
Metropolitan Police investigators have charged Jaesis Boatswain, a 40-year-old from Swan Walk, in connection with the assault. Boatswain was apprehended on Tuesday, November 4 and faces four serious charges including grievous bodily harm without intent, assault, robbery, and threatening a person with a sharp object in public.
The accused appeared at Highbury Magistrates' Court on November 6 where he was remanded into custody. Boatswain is scheduled to appear next at Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday, December 10 as legal proceedings continue.
Community Shock and Police Appeal
Local MP Feryal Clark has expressed being "deeply concerned" about the violent incident that has shaken the North London community. Detectives have launched a public appeal for information about the daylight attack and are urging witnesses to come forward.
Authorities are particularly interested in any CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or eyewitness accounts that could assist their investigation. The Metropolitan Police have provided specific reference numbers for information relating to this case.
