‘Loving and Kind’ Man Dies Following East London Street Altercation
A man remembered for his profound kindness and warmth has tragically died following a violent street fight in east London. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a police investigation.
Details of the Forest Gate Incident
The violent altercation broke out on Palmerston Road in Forest Gate at 3.52pm on Tuesday. Franklin Francis, 56, from Newham, was found unresponsive by members of the public who immediately alerted the emergency services.
Francis was rushed to hospital for treatment but, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Thursday.
In connection with the incident, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed that two men, aged 56 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Both individuals have since been released on conditional bail as the investigation continues.

In a heartfelt statement, the family of Franklin Francis paid tribute to him, describing him as ‘a loving member of the family whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew him’.
They added, ‘His absence leaves a void that can never be filled. We will miss him dearly every single day.’
Superintendent Sarah Jackson expressed the force's sadness, stating: ‘We are deeply saddened by this incident, and our thoughts are with Franklin’s family and friends.’
She confirmed that officers are doing everything possible to establish the full circumstances and thanked the members of the public who assisted at the scene. To alleviate local concerns, she emphasised that this is believed to have been an isolated incident.
