A 33-year-old man from Wrexham has pleaded guilty to selling a chemical substance online with the intention of assisting others in taking their own lives.
Guilty Plea Entered in Court
Miles Cross admitted to four separate counts of intentionally doing an act capable of encouraging or assisting the suicide of another person. The charges stem from his activities on an online forum where he marketed and sold the substances.
Wrexham Magistrates' Court heard during an earlier hearing in October that Cross provided chemicals to Shubhreet Singh on 22 August last year. Ms Singh, aged 26, died in West Yorkshire last year.
Victims and Police Investigation
The three other counts relate to additional victims who cannot be named for legal reasons due to active reporting restrictions. These incidents are said to have occurred in August and September 2024.
Cross was arrested in January following a comprehensive police investigation into the online sales. Detective Superintendent Chris Bell of North Wales Police made a statement following the guilty plea.
"Cross took advantage and exploited his victims in their most desperate moments, profiting off their vulnerability and mental illnesses," he said.
Sentencing and Support
Detective Superintendent Bell also expressed hope that the admission of guilt would provide some relief to the victims' families, sparing them the ordeal of a trial. He acknowledged the complexity of the 10-month investigation and praised the courage of the witnesses involved.
Miles Cross is scheduled to be sentenced at Mold Crown Court on 7 January.
