Marjorie Taylor Greene Seeks Reconciliation With Trump After Epstein Row
Greene seeks Trump reconciliation after Epstein row

Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has declared her willingness to repair her relationship with former president Donald Trump following a very public political falling-out between the two high-profile figures.

The Epstein Files Dispute

The conflict emerged when a petition to vote on the complete release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein gathered sufficient signatures, including Greene's support, to force a House of Representatives vote. Mr Trump responded by withdrawing his endorsement of the Georgia representative, labelling her a 'RINO' (Republican In Name Only) and hinting he might back a challenger against her.

Ms Greene claimed that text messages she sent to the president concerning the Epstein documentation had 'sent him over the edge'. She stated on social media: 'Of course he's coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next week's vote to release the Epstein files.'

Threats and Reconciliation

The situation escalated when Ms Greene reported facing serious threats, which she alleged were being encouraged by Mr Trump's criticism. 'As a woman, I take threats from men seriously,' she emphasised, adding that the experience gave her a small insight into the fear felt by Epstein's victims.

However, in a significant shift on Sunday 16 November 2025, the congresswoman struck a conciliatory tone. Writing on X, she highlighted that forgiveness was a 'major part' of her Christian faith. She expressed her commitment to demonstrating how Americans can settle differences and progress together, stating: 'I truly believe in forgiveness and I am open to moving forward with the President.'

The Political Fallout

The White House has dismissed selectively leaked emails from the Epstein files as an attempt to 'create a fake narrative to smear President Trump', who has consistently denied any knowledge of or involvement in Epstein's sex trafficking operation. Mr Trump has characterised the entire episode as a 'hoax' engineered by Democrats to divert attention from the US government shutdown.

Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The ongoing release of documents continues to generate significant political controversy in Washington.
