Family's Heartbreaking Tribute to 'Gentle' Katie Fox

The family of a woman who was fatally stabbed in Birmingham city centre have paid a moving tribute to their 'so beautiful and kind' daughter. Katie Fox, 34, died in hospital after being attacked on Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm on Friday night.

In a statement released by West Midlands Police, her grieving family described the immense void her death has left, calling her a 'shining light' in their lives. They expressed their profound heartache and thanked the emergency services for their support.

A Life Taken Too Soon

Katie Fox was left with critical injuries following the incident on Friday, 12th November 2025. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, she was reported to have died in hospital on the following Monday.

Her family's tribute poignantly stated: 'A part of us was snatched away on that very fateful night, a part of us also vanished suddenly, when you passed away, leaving us all with such sadness and heartache.' They remembered Katie as 'everything a daughter could be and much more'.

Court Appearance Following the Attack

Djeison Rafael, a 21-year-old man, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday morning, accused of the murder of Katie Fox. The case is ongoing as the investigation continues.

The family also extended their gratitude to the paramedics, police, and the ITU at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for their 'professionalism and companionship' during this traumatic time. They have asked for privacy as they grieve the loss of their 'most precious daughter'.
