A five-year-old boy has died following a tragic incident where a wall collapsed at a popular family golf centre in Sidcup. The event occurred on Sunday, November 9, at around 5:40pm at the Family Golf attraction located on the Sidcup By-Pass.

Details of the Incident

Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and a doctor, were called to the scene after reports that a child had been seriously injured. According to eyewitness accounts, the boy and a six-year-old girl were attending a birthday party when the wall gave way. The young boy was treated at the scene and then transported to hospital by the London Air Ambulance in a life-threatening condition. Despite medical efforts, he sadly passed away two days later on Tuesday, November 11.

The six-year-old girl involved in the incident was also injured but has since been discharged from hospital.

Ongoing Investigation and Response

An investigation into the circumstances of the collapse has been launched, led by the Metropolitan Police in conjunction with the Local Health and Safety Inspector. The Family Golf centre has remained closed since the tragedy.

In an official statement, a spokesperson for Family Golf said: "We are deeply saddened to hear that the child injured on Sunday has tragically passed away. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the child’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. We are co-operating fully with the authorities as they continue their investigation and are providing every possible support to those affected by this tragedy."

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the boy's family is being supported by specialist officers and have requested privacy.

Family Golf is a well-known local venue featuring two dinosaur-themed crazy golf courses and a driving range, making it a popular destination for families and amateur golfers. It is currently unclear which specific area of the building was affected by the wall collapse.
