The 20-year-old son of President Donald Trump and Melania Trump watched Spain defeat Argentina 1-0 in extra time at MetLife Stadium, with Ferran Torres scoring the winning goal.
Trump praises son's football knowledge
President Trump, who was on hand for the trophy presentation, credited Barron with keeping him informed about football and key players. 'I get this information from my son. Barron is a tremendous soccer fan,' Trump said. He mentioned Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Pelé as great players, adding that Barron had advised him on others to watch.
Norwegian outlet VG reported that Trump told Norway's Prime Minister at a recent NATO summit that Barron is a fan of striker Erling Haaland. Barron himself played soccer as a child, joining the DC United academy at age 11.
Family photo excludes Barron
Eric Trump shared a photo on Instagram showing himself with siblings Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Tiffany, as well as his wife Lara Trump. Barron was not in the picture. This is consistent with his tendency to avoid family gatherings; he also missed Donald Jr.'s wedding in the Bahamas in May.
Barron was seen at the Freedom 250 UFC fight on the White House lawn in June and attended the State of the Union address in February. A source told the Daily Mail that Barron 'has a bright future ahead of him' and 'is really starting to resemble his father.'
Low profile at NYU
Barron currently studies at New York University's Stern School of Business campus in Washington, D.C. His sister-in-law Lara Trump discussed his preference for privacy on her podcast, saying, 'You want to hear more about Barron 'cause you see less of him. That's why he likes to play it cool.'
