Vardy Reignites Wagatha Feud, Vows No Apology

Rebekah Vardy has reignited the long-running feud with Coleen Rooney, vowing she will 'never' apologize for her role in the infamous Wagatha Christie saga. The 44-year-old former Dancing on Ice contestant made the declaration in her family's new reality series, The Vardys, insisting that 'hell will freeze over' before she says sorry.

Vardy's Defiant Stance

In the show, Vardy addressed the ongoing impact of the 2022 libel case, in which a judge ruled in Rooney's favor, finding it 'likely' that Vardy was aware of and condoned her agent leaking private stories to the press. Despite the ruling and the nearly £1.4 million in legal costs she was ordered to pay, Vardy remains unrepentant. 'I'm never going to apologise for something I didn't do,' she said. 'Hell will freeze over before I do that.'

Vardy continued: 'People constantly go, "Well, it's not going to change anything unless you apologise." But I'm not apologising for something I didn't do. It's over, it's done, I'm not going to carry on living in the past. I'm so f***ing bored of it.'

The Wagatha Christie Saga

The feud began in October 2019 when Rooney, 40, posted a now-iconic social media message accusing Vardy of leaking stories to The Sun's Secret Wag column. Rooney had planted fake stories on Instagram to narrow down the leak's source, leading her to Vardy's account. Vardy sued for libel, but the High Court judge ruled against her, stating that the accusation was 'substantially true.'

Rooney later released a Disney Plus docuseries, The Real Wagatha Story, and discussed the case on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2024. She said the ordeal was draining and that she felt ashamed to go to court, adding: 'What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke and that's really disappointing, it wasn't a joke for me.'

Vardy's Continued Denials

Vardy has trademarked the phrase 'Wagatha Christie' and continues to insist on her innocence, condemning the 'abuse' she has faced. She stated in her new show: 'I'm living with the judgment the judge made but, still to this day, I believe she was wrong.'

Neither woman has indicated any desire to reconcile, and they have managed to avoid each other at public events. Metro has reached out to Coleen's team for comment.
