Massive Demonstrations Erupt Across Ukraine
Thousands of Ukrainians have taken to the streets in Kyiv, Lviv, and other cities to protest President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's decision to dismiss Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, a widely popular figure. The protests began immediately after the announcement and have continued to grow, with activists carrying placards and banners denouncing the sacking.
Activists Rally in Kyiv and Lviv
In Kyiv, demonstrators gathered near the monument to Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko, waving Ukrainian flags and holding signs that read "Save Our Army" and "Fedorov Must Stay." Similarly, in Lviv, hundreds assembled outside the regional administration building, chanting slogans against the government's decision. According to local media, the protests have been peaceful but intense, reflecting deep public discontent.
Zelenskyy's Decision Sparks Outrage
The dismissal of Fedorov, who was seen as a key reformer and a symbol of Ukraine's resistance against Russian aggression, has shocked many. "This is a betrayal of the people's trust," said one protester, as quoted by Ukrinform. "Fedorov was doing an excellent job, and we demand his reinstatement." The government has not yet commented on the protests, but the situation remains tense as more rallies are planned for the coming days.
