The family of a 25-year-old man who was killed in a drive-by shooting at a barbecue in Brixton have expressed their profound grief, stating, 'our hearts are absolutely broken.'
Incident Details
Keanu Taylor was fatally shot when attackers opened fire from a vehicle on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton during the early hours of Saturday. Three other individuals, aged 21, 47, and 70, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening or life-changing.
In a statement released through the Metropolitan Police, Mr. Taylor's family described him as 'a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson and friend.' They added, 'He was loved by everyone and his smile would light up a room. Keanu had the world at his feet, and he's left a huge hole in our family.'
Police Response
Police and ambulance services arrived within minutes of the shooting, but Mr. Taylor succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, leading the investigation, said: 'As we work quickly to identify those responsible, our thoughts are with Keanu’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.' He described the incident as 'a shocking act of violence which has had a devastating impact on those involved and the local community.'
No arrests have been made, and the gunman remains at large. Residents can expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
