A 17-year-old boy has been charged with 16 offences following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing London. The charges include terrorism offences, possession of explosive substances, making indecent images of children, and blackmail.
Details of the Charges
The teenager was arrested in Norfolk last year. Among the charges, three relate to the Terrorism Acts of 2000 and 2006. Five additional charges involve making, having, or controlling an explosive substance under the Explosive Substances Act 1883. The Metropolitan Police have stated that the investigation is linked to suspected extreme right-wing terrorism.
Other charges include distributing flyers inciting racial hatred, possession of a homemade firearm, making indecent images of children, criminal damage, racially aggravated criminal damage, and two counts of blackmail. The specific charges are as follows:
- Two counts of dissemination of terrorist publications (Terrorism Act 2006)
- Five counts of making, having, or controlling an explosive substance (Explosive Substances Act 1883)
- One count of possessing information useful to a person committing terrorism (Terrorism Act 2000)
- Two counts of publishing threatening material (Public Order Act 1986)
- One count of making indecent images of children (Protection of Children Act 1978)
- One count of possession of a firearm (Firearms Act 1968)
- One count of criminal damage (Criminal Damage Act 1986)
- One count of racially aggravated criminal damage (Crime and Disorder Act 1998)
- Two counts of blackmail (Theft Act 1968)
Court Appearance
The teenager is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 1.
