Police believe a man wanted for the murders of a woman and two girls in Bedford may have fled the UK via Heathrow Airport. Bedfordshire Police have identified Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, also known as Mark, as the suspect. The bodies of Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, were discovered in a detached house on Carnoustie Drive in Great Denham on Monday, July 6.
Suspect believed to have left for Zimbabwe
Detective Inspector Lee Martin stated that Tshuma is believed to have left the country on Saturday, July 4, using a British passport, and is now thought to be in Zimbabwe. A CCTV image of Tshuma has been released by the force. Martin said: "We know that Mark Tshuma left the country on Saturday and is now believed to be in Zimbabwe. We are urgently working to find and apprehend him, and would appeal to him directly to hand himself in."
Police appeal for information
Martin added: "Criminal investigation knows no borders. We are actively working with national and international agencies to pursue every available line of inquiry to track you down." He also expressed condolences: "Our thoughts are still very much with Zandile, Natalie and Nala, as well as all of those who loved and knew them."
Community in shock
At least four police cars were parked outside the property on Tuesday evening, with the driveway cordoned off. Bunches of flowers were laid on a hedge. A woman who laid flowers said: "We're really sorry to lose her. She was such a gracious mother." Another resident described the area as "such a nice and safe place," expressing shock at the incident.
