A new BBC documentary titled Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret features accusations from multiple women who claim the actor sexually assaulted them or behaved inappropriately when they were teenagers. The documentary, which includes testimony from 10 women, focuses on four specific allegations of sexual assault or underage sex.
Allegations span 2002 to 2016
The incidents described by the women occurred between 2002 and 2016, when Leto was in his 30s and 40s. One woman alleges she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom at age 17. Another claims she was threatened with sexual assault when left alone with Leto in a hotel room at 19. A third woman says she was groomed by Leto starting at age 16, with the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman making repeated sexually explicit phone calls and suggesting they have sex. She was later asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which she refused. A fourth alleged victim claims she had underage sex with Leto in California when she was 17, noting that the age of consent in the state is 18.
Additional accusations of inappropriate behavior
Four other women say they received highly sexual phone calls from Leto when they were young. One woman recounts that at a festival, when she was 14, Leto made a lewd comment about her chest during an autograph signing and instructed a security guard to bring her backstage. Her mother confronted Leto, but he repeated the comment.
Witnesses from Thirty Seconds to Mars
The documentary also features two men who worked with the band, stating that staff felt uncomfortable with Leto's conduct. One said, 'I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big,' alleging that Leto would invite teenage girls to his dressing room or home. The BBC claims to have seen pictures and messages supporting the women's stories, with accounts corroborated by friends and family.

Jared Leto, 54, is an Oscar-winning actor known for roles in Dallas Buyers Club, Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049, and Suicide Squad. He recently starred as Skeletor in Masters of the Universe. Metro has reached out to Leto's team for comment. One alleged victim told the BBC, 'He has gotten away with it,' referring to an encounter she said happened 25 years ago.
