At least 27 people were killed when a massive fire engulfed the Na Ladprao pub in Bangkok early on July 12, 2026. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes, but not before the inferno claimed numerous lives and injured several others.
Fire reported around midnight
Rescuers reported the fire around midnight. Footage shared by first responders showed a huge blaze raging and thick black smoke billowing from the front door of the pub, located in the northern part of the Thai capital. People were seen fleeing as smoke filled the area.
PM confirms death toll and investigation
Thailand's Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, told reporters at the scene that 27 people had died and that several injured individuals had been taken to hospital. He stated that the cause of the fire is under investigation. According to Anutin, a musician performing at the pub reported seeing smoke coming from a circuit breaker near the stage before the power went out. An explosion was then heard, and thick smoke quickly filled the venue. Many victims were found in the restrooms and at the back of the pub, the prime minister added.
Aftermath and historical context
Photos from the aftermath showed charred tables and chairs and the damaged interior of the pub. Thailand has experienced similar tragedies in the past. In 2022, a fire at a music pub in the eastern part of the country killed 14 people. The latest incident has prompted renewed calls for stricter fire safety regulations in entertainment venues.
