The Croydon local election results are being declared rapidly, with several wards already announced. The current standings show the Local Conservatives holding 16 seats, closely followed by the Labour and Co-operative Party with 14 seats. The Green Party has made notable progress with 5 seats, while both the Liberal Democrats and Reform UK have secured 2 seats each.
Reform UK Breakthrough in New Addington South
One of the most striking developments occurred in New Addington South, where the Conservatives lost both seats to Reform UK. Candidates Scott Holman and Adam Kellett were elected with 1,003 and 857 votes respectively, marking a major breakthrough for the party at the expense of the Tories and Labour.
Green Party Gains Control of Fairfield Ward
In another significant shift, the Green Party achieved a major breakthrough in the town centre by taking full control of the Fairfield ward. Paul Ainscough unseated Labour’s Chris Clark, securing a decisive victory. The Greens further bolstered their presence in Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood, where Natalie Vesty and Mark Adderley won two seats previously held by Labour, while the Liberal Democrats’ Claire Elizabeth Bonham successfully held the third seat in that ward.
Mayor Jason Perry Re-elected
Croydon Mayor Jason Perry has outlined what residents can expect after he retained his position in the 2026 Croydon Mayoral elections. He stated that the borough’s finances would be “fully stabilised” by the end of his second term. Perry narrowly defeated Labour’s Rowenna Davis by 1,113 votes on Friday 8 May, securing another four years as Croydon’s executive Mayor after first winning the role in 2022.
“Whilst it seems a small difference, it was a doubling of the previous election win,” Perry said, referring to his last election vote share. “The difference is also a validation of the work that I have been doing over the last four years.”
