A 34-year-old woman has tragically died after being stabbed in the neck in Birmingham city centre on Friday night. The incident occurred on Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm, according to West Midlands Police.

Suspect Charged as Investigation Continues
Djeison Rafael, 21, has been charged with attempted murder and was scheduled to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday morning. Following the victim's death, police announced they will apply to have the charges amended to reflect the more serious outcome.
Authorities have released a description of Rafael's alleged attire during the incident, believing he was wearing an all-grey tracksuit, black hat, trainers and a rucksack on the evening of Friday, 7 November.

West Midlands Police have made a fresh appeal for information, stating they are 'still keen to hear from anyone who knows more about what happened' or who might have witnessed Rafael's movements that evening.
The case has drawn attention at the highest levels, with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood expressing her shock on Sunday. She thanked police for their 'swift efforts' in making an arrest and urged potential witnesses to contact authorities by calling 101.
