Jamie Foxx says daughter Corinne saved his life after 2023 stroke
Jamie Foxx: daughter saved my life after 2023 stroke

Jamie Foxx, 58, became emotional while revealing that his daughter Corinne, 32, saved his life after he suffered a stroke in 2023. The actor has few memories of the medical emergency or the aftermath of his surgery in an Atlanta hospital, but he now credits his daughter's quick thinking and composure for his survival.

In a new interview on the podcast Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, Foxx and his daughter discussed the difficult period, with Foxx tearing up as he recalled a conversation with his doctor. According to Foxx, the doctor told him: “Man, your daughter saved your life. She saved you. She’s the reason that you’re here.”

Corinne’s role during the health crisis

Foxx explained that Corinne had to manage a great deal during his recovery, including dealing with public speculation. “She had to deal with a lot of stuff. She had to deal with the internet,” he said.

Corinne, who also works as a producer on her father's projects, admitted that the internet was a part she was not prepared for. She described the spread of conspiracy theories, including claims about cloning, after Foxx disappeared from public view to recuperate. “As soon as he went dark, it was scary the places the internet went with the cloning and the conspiracy,” she said.

She added that she wanted to tell people, “It’s not that interesting. Actually, it’s a human thing,” but noted that it was not her place to release his medical information. She called that “the toughest part” of the experience.

Previous thanks to sister Deidra

Foxx has previously credited his sister Deidra with saving his life by urging him to go to the hospital when he began feeling unwell. In a social media message, he wrote: “Without you I would not be here… had you not made the decisions that you made, I would’ve lost my life…. I love you forever and ever happy birthday sis.”

The Django Unchained actor has also described his recovery as “going to hell and back.” In an earlier tearful message to followers, he said: “I went through something I never thought I would go through. I know a lot of people [were] waiting or wanting to hear an update, but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like that man.”

Public reaction and ongoing recovery

The interview with Keke Palmer marks one of the few times Foxx has spoken in depth about the health scare, which required extensive rehabilitation. His decision to share more details now highlights the ongoing impact of the event on his family.

Foxx’s gratitude toward both his daughter and sister underscores the critical role his family played during his medical crisis and subsequent recovery. The actor continues to work on various projects, with Corinne serving as a producer on several of them.
