Tragic Stabbing Claims Life of Young Film Student in London Park
The father of a 21-year-old film student stabbed to death in a north London park has paid an emotional tribute to his "beautiful, lovely, outgoing, loving" son, describing the incident as "the worst tragedy I could ever imagine."
Evening Attack in Popular Beauty Spot
Finbar Sullivan was fatally stabbed during a fight in Primrose Hill park in the early evening of Tuesday. The young student was pronounced dead at the scene despite receiving approximately 20 minutes of CPR from emergency responders.
His father, Christopher Sullivan, a musician and founder of the 1980s band Blue Rondo à la Turk, expressed profound shock that such violence could occur in what he described as a normally peaceful area comparable to Hyde Park in reputation.
"It's Primrose Hill, for God's sake ... it's like Hyde Park. It's not somewhere you expect this," the grieving father told reporters.
A Promising Future Cut Short
The victim had been a student at the London Screen Academy and had reportedly produced music videos for drill rap artists under the professional name Sully Shot It. According to his father, Finbar had aspirations to become a cameraman like his grandfather, Michael Seresin, who worked on major film productions including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Rambo III.
On the day of the attack, Finbar had gone to the renowned beauty spot to test a new camera he received as a 21st birthday gift from his family.
"He'd just bought a new camera, we all chipped in for his 21st birthday, and he took it up there to do a bit of filming," Christopher Sullivan explained. "He was just a little groovy 21-year-old who loved movies and making films. He didn't drink, he didn't smoke, he didn't go out."
Father's Heartbreaking Account
The 65-year-old father, who had his only son when he was 45, described rushing to the scene after receiving a call around 6 p.m. about the stabbing. He was prevented from entering the cordoned-off crime scene where his son had already died.
"I'm so broken-hearted, I can't believe it. He was the most beautiful, lovely, outgoing, loving boy. He was just a really lovely person. And why he was targeted, we have no idea," Sullivan told the Daily Mail.
He emphasized that his son was "not a gang member" but rather "the subject of an indiscriminate stabbing."
Police Investigation and Appeal
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed they are investigating the fatal stabbing and have noted that video footage of the incident has been circulating online. Authorities have made a public appeal for information.
Detectives are urging anyone with information, including photos or videos related to the attack, to come forward to assist with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young student's death.
The tragedy has highlighted ongoing concerns about knife crime in the capital, particularly in areas typically considered safe and popular with both tourists and local residents.
