Family Mourns 'Kind' Teenager Fatally Stabbed in London Home
The devastated family of a 'respectful' teenager discovered fatally stabbed at a residence in west London has expressed profound grief following the tragic incident. Berkan Demir, an 18-year-old mobile clothes salesman, succumbed to a neck wound sustained at a flat on Lena Gardens in Hammersmith this past Sunday.
Heartbreaking Discovery and Family Tributes
Reports indicate that when Demir failed to answer his phone, concerned family members tracked him down only to find him suffering from life-threatening injuries. A subsequent post-mortem examination confirmed his cause of death as sharp force trauma to the left side of the neck.
His aunt, Sevim Demir, shared a poignant message on Facebook, writing, 'It is a deep sorrow that our nephew passed away. He was very young. Rest in peace, beautiful child.'
One World Soccers Club, a youth team for ages six to 21, also paid an emotional tribute to their former player on Instagram, stating, 'He was such a kind and respectful young man. My heart cannot accept this. It's truly heartbreaking. The world sometimes feels like such an unbearable place.'
Community Shock and Police Investigation
Neighbors in the affluent, tree-lined street, where houses are valued at over £2 million, expressed utter shock. One resident described the scene, saying, 'On Sunday the first I knew of it was ambulance and police piling up. They were in a big rush; it was very dramatic. There was a police cordon around the house for days and forensics in and out. It's a total shock.'
Another neighbor highlighted the proximity to a primary school, noting, 'It happened across the road from a primary school, and when school opened Monday morning, the kids had to see the police tape. It's heartbreaking.' A long-time local added, 'I've lived here for decades; it's a great area, but this is heartbreaking. It's a close community, and we are all deeply shocked. God bless the victim and his family.'
Detectives have conducted door-to-door inquiries and collected available CCTV and Ring doorbell footage. Forensic officers have been meticulously scouring the house for evidence.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Ahmed Said, a 31-year-old resident of Lena Gardens, has been charged with murder. He was scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact police on 101.
