Hollywood Icon Sally Kirkland, 84, Enters Hospice Care After Dementia Diagnosis
Sally Kirkland, 84, in hospice care with dementia

Hollywood icon Sally Kirkland, the 84-year-old Golden Globe winner, has entered hospice care following a diagnosis of dementia and a series of serious health setbacks.

A Devastating Health Battle

Sally Kirkland was diagnosed with dementia in 2024, a degenerative condition that impacts memory and reasoning. Her representative, Michael Greene, confirmed the diagnosis to the Daily Mail. The situation has been compounded by other critical health issues. According to a GoFundMe page organised by her friends, the veteran actress has been contending with 'two separate life-threatening conditions'.

This past year has been particularly difficult, with Kirkland suffering fractures to four bones in her neck, her right wrist, and her left hip. While recovering from these injuries, she developed severe infections, leading to extensive hospitalisation and rehabilitation.

Friends Rally with a GoFundMe Campaign

Her close friends, including Coty Galloway, Paige Dylan, and Mel England, established the fundraising page to help cover 'urgent medical care' that she can no longer afford. Insurance coverage for her rehab has been exhausted, and her friends warn that a lack of proper care diminishes her chance of a full recovery.

An update posted on Friday stated, 'Sally is in hospice now and is resting comfortably. Please hold and send the light for Sally.' The campaign has seen an outpouring of support, having raised over $58,000 towards its $65,000 target.

Support and Solidarity

Michael Greene is travelling from New York to be by her side, vowing she 'will not go until I'm holding her hand.' Kirkland, known for her roles in films like 'Bruce Almighty' and 'JFK' as well as the original 'Charlie's Angels' series, is currently hospitalised in Palm Springs, California, with her friend Coty Galloway at her bedside.

Her friends expressed their gratitude for the public's support, saying, 'Sally is grateful for your kindness and love.' They remain hopeful that with the right medical support, the esteemed actress can overcome this setback.
