Carol Vorderman has revealed she was left unconscious after a fall while walking near her home in late May. The 65-year-old TV presenter shared the details on Instagram, explaining the incident and her subsequent recovery.
Details of the fall
Vorderman said she tripped over a tree root on a public footpath and fell onto a tarmac surface. She was unconscious and taken by ambulance to the Bristol Royal Infirmary. She noted that the song 'The Final Countdown' by Europe played during the journey, which she found amusing.
Hospitalisation and symptoms
She was discharged the next day but experienced severe vomiting and other symptoms, leading to a second hospital visit. CT scans were performed, and she had a large black eye and facial bruises for weeks. After two to three weeks, she developed dizziness, describing it as feeling like walking on a moving ship.
Treatment with the Epley manoeuvre
The Epley manoeuvre, a series of head movements to reposition dislodged ear crystals, resolved 95% of her symptoms after the first session. A physiotherapist performed the treatment over three sessions, and Vorderman now feels much better. She emphasised she is not a doctor and not advising others, only sharing her experience.
