TALA Founder Grace Beverley Warns of Mercury Poisoning from Daily Tuna
Grace Beverley's Tuna Habit Led to Mercury Poisoning Risk

Grace Beverley, the influencer and founder of fitness brands TALA and Shreddy, has revealed that her daily habit of eating one or two tins of tuna nearly led to mercury poisoning. The entrepreneur, who initially gained fame as GraceFitUK, shared the alarming health scare in a recent TikTok video.

A Convenient Lunch Turned Dangerous

Beverley, who now lives in London, admitted that her busy schedule often forces her to grab quick lunches. Her go-to choice was tuna, which she consumed daily without realizing the potential risks. She said: "Last winter I had a load of testing around why my hormones were so messed up, and why I was having so much inflammation and I'd put on a lot of weight really easily."

After undergoing hormone tests, GI tests, and blood tests, Beverley received an unexpected call from her doctor. "The doctor called me when I wasn't expecting it, and I was like, oh no, I'm dying," she recalled. The doctor expressed concern over elevated levels of mercury and arsenic in her blood and asked about her consumption of tinned fish.

The Doctor's Warning

Beverley confessed to eating one or two tins of tuna every single day. The doctor informed her that she was "borderline for mercury poisoning" and had "incredibly high arsenic levels." She recommended that Beverley avoid all tinned fish for a few months. Beverley responded: "I said, no, obviously I didn't know that. And also what am I meant to eat? Because when it's in the cupboard and I'm in a rush and I'm at work, it's important that tuna is available to me."

Health Risks of Excessive Tuna Consumption

Tuna is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids, but its high mercury content raises concerns when consumed daily. The NHS advises that people trying to conceive or pregnant women should eat no more than four cans of tuna per week or two tuna steaks. This guidance is based on a medium-sized can with a drained weight of about 140g. Breastfeeding women have no restrictions.

Beverley's video sparked reactions from viewers, with one commenting: "Two a week???? I have at least one a day! Ok running to the shops for other lunches lol thanks for the info!" Another shared: "This happened to me too!!! I was having 1 tin a day at minimum and once I stopped eating it regularly my periods went back to normal."
