In an official statement released on Monday evening, the Blues acknowledged public interest in the situation while strongly requesting that the privacy of Hollands and his family be respected. The club specifically asked media outlets not to report or speculate on Hollands' location or private health information.
"The Carlton Football Club can confirm that Elijah Hollands has been admitted to hospital this evening," the statement read. "While the club acknowledges the public's interest, it again asks that the privacy of Elijah and his family be respected."
Concerning Performance Prompts Investigation and Review
The 23-year-old player's erratic performance during Thursday's match raised immediate concerns, with Hollands initially registering no statistics despite playing 75% of the match across the first three quarters. He was eventually awarded one possession in retrospect - an ineffective kick during the third term - before being benched in the fourth quarter.

The player has been open about his mental health struggles in the past, having taken personal leave from Carlton twice last year while battling mental ill-health and issues with alcohol. Wright stated that he has "at this stage" ruled out alcohol or illicit substances as factors affecting Hollands during Thursday's match.
