Police have not made any arrests after a 19-year-old was stabbed in Central London in broad daylight. Emergency services responded to reports of the attack on Edgware Road shortly before 1:30pm on Sunday, August 16. Paramedics treated the teenager's stab wounds before taking him to hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening or life-changing injuries. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that no one has been detained in connection with the incident, and enquiries are ongoing.
Police cordon and emergency response
Photographs taken the same afternoon show a heavy police presence on Edgware Road and the adjacent Burwood Place. A lengthy cordon was erected along the two roads, blocking off a bank, a number of residential properties, and the Water Gardens development. The London Ambulance Service also sent several resources to the scene.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 1:25pm yesterday (16 August) to reports of a stabbing on Burwood Place, W2. We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. The first paramedic arrived in less than six minutes. We treated a patient and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority."
Witness appeal and ongoing investigation
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 with reference 3782/16Aug. The investigation is ongoing, and the Metropolitan Police are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
