Levi Davidson, a 40-year-old man, has been named as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred during a memorial service in Acton. He died at the scene on Braybrook Street after multiple shots were fired at approximately 7.45pm on October 2. The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following his death.
Incident details and police response
Members of the public reported hearing bangs and a disturbance at the junction with Erconwald Street, adjacent to Wormwood Scrubs Open Space. Emergency services attended, but Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene. As of the evening of October 3, no arrests had been made in connection with the case, and the force issued a statement appealing for information.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, expressed condolences: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of a man whose life was taken in a senseless act of violence. We understand a large number of people had gathered for a memorial service and what should have been a time to come together in remembrance has instead left a family devastated."
Witness appeal and estimated attendance
DCI Howie revealed that between 40 and 50 people, including children, were present when the incident occurred. He urged anyone with information to come forward, stating: "Someone knows what happened and we need them to come forward."
Investigators are seeking to speak with anyone who was in the area of Erconwald Street, Braybrook Street, surrounding roads, or Wormwood Scrubs playground between 6pm and 8pm on the day of the shooting. DCI Howie added: "Did you see anyone carrying or concealing weapons, people on bicycles acting suspiciously, or vehicles being driven at speed? We also want to hear from anyone with photographs, video, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage or who has seen anything relevant on social media. However insignificant it may seem, the smallest piece of information could prove crucial in helping us establish what happened and identify those responsible."
Crime scene and public assistance
Photographs from the crime scene taken last week show a large cordon encompassing several roads, the park, and the Old Oak Community Centre. Forensics officers in protective clothing were seen gathering evidence from the pavement and shrubbery on their hands and knees.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the police via 101, quoting CAD 7011/2Oct, or to upload material to the major incident portal. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
